The history of Troop 4 video gaming

2004's "BacPacMan" in the Director's cut of "Troop 4: Uncensored, pt. 1" was never a real game, despite many boys' belief that it was. It was merely a few seconds of animation in AfterEffects with Illustrator graphics; merely a video joke. But it inspired years of discussion of whether a Troop 4 PC game might one day be made.
Around 2005-2006, I worked on what was meant to be a third-person Troop 4 adventure game, complete with dynamic conversations, cleverly interwoven puzzles, interactive objects, detailed graphics, and an absurd story set in Troop 4's distant future, a world where Morgan is a scoutmaster you have to threaten or stab to get to the bottom of a conspiracy - a secret crime ring at the top of the scouthouse where Anthony Belmont is perfecting a designer drug, "poke", which combines pot and coke. The production ended up being something of a wreck - the production tools were inadequate, files were corrupted or lost, and after a while I abandoned the whole thing.
As of 2008, Albert Rivera signed a production deal with Hornbostel Media. Albert is in preproduction on a Troop 4 video game with playable animated versions of the scouts, side-scrolling 2d arcade interface, and a variety of levels and weapons. Time will tell if this game will ever be completed - becoming the first true Troop 4 video game.
